Oooh, shiny…

Some high/low jewelry picks that I can’t stop thinking about:

margaret ring

This Margaret ring from Of A Kind is just perfection.  I love the oblong shape that is not quite a sunburst, not quite an evil eye, not quite a signet ring.  I think it would work especially well on one’s index finger.  Gorgeous.

Esme drop earrings

On the other end of the price spectrum, these petite drop earrings from Anthropologie are darling.  They have a bit of a Deco vibe and I love the mix of colors and cuts to the stones.  Fancy enough for date night, but easy to throw on for everyday.

While I dream of that lovely ring, perhaps those earrings can come home with me?

New year, new desk!

I’ve been on a kick lately to make home feel more functional and “home-y,” so out with my old desk and in with the fresh and new!  Somewhere along the line I realized that there is no reason living in a rental home has to feel temporary.  It can still feel like us.

New desk

I’ve assembled most of the pieces you see so far; I’m just waiting now for my desk to arrive.  I am impatient by nature anyway, and with shipping delays it has taken a month to finally get here.  But tomorrow is the day, and I am very excited!

Three little words that are guaranteed to bring a smile?  “Out for delivery.”

A displaced Parisienne

Despite cute new boots, tons of February sunshine, and some thought-provoking Joan Didion essays on my mind (currently reading The White Album), I’m missing Paris today.  Call it a mild case of the Monday blues, I suppose?  There are always those places you feel drawn to — a childhood street or coffee shop with fond memories.  Others tug at your sense of place inexplicably, greeting you with open arms and a sense of belonging even though you are a newcomer.  In that way Paris is my “heart-home,” and for me there is nothing quite like the feeling of emerging from the Metro into the streets above.  Je t’aime, Paris.
